San Carlos Mayor's Office Removes Illegal Turnstile

The San Carlos mayor's office ordered the removal of an illegal turnstile barrier on public land to guarantee public access to the beach, following a citizen complaint.

The action taken by the San Carlos mayor's office was applauded on social media, where it was also reported on other points where this type of barrier has been illegally installed.

The position of the San Carlos mayor's office regarding the illegal restriction of citizen access to public areas is that free transit and orderly coexistence will be guaranteed throughout the district.

According to municipal officials, the turnstile barrier is illegal because it is located on public land.

Personnel from the Engineering Department of the Municipality of San Carlos, backed by justices of the peace, ordered the removal of a manual turnstile barrier on the way to Playa Grande, in the corregimiento of Las Uvas.

The citizen complaint about the installation of the metal barrier had been filed with the district mayor's office.

One of those sites is Río Mar, where, despite there being two zones of free access to the beach, residents insist on blocking the passage and posting private security at the site.

«After the inspection, we requested the immediate removal of it, as it obstructs the common access use of the community,» officials indicated.
